Girlfriend’s Gratitude Tea and EmpowHERment

September 25, 2013 By: Ceemaccomment

This weekend there are two great events going on this weekend geared especially for women.  Right on the heels of the Create Your Own Sizzle Event sponsored by Cheryl Woods, this month brings even more opportunity to get our and get some inspiration in the areas of career, finance, image, health, and community.  I’m especially excited about the Girlfriend’s Gratitude Tea because yours truly, YES ME, will be one of the panelists for a coming together discussion on positive images in the media.  I’m working hard to make positive images of Prince George’s County the ones that sort to the top.  These events are designed to help women like you and I have places to go where we can refuel, gain knowledge and connect to a very valuable community.  Don’t miss out.  And again, I’d love to meet some of you on Sunday.  Both these events are happening in our county for nominal prices.  Invest.

EmpowHERmentCracking the Glass Ceiling: the Women’s Engagement and EmpowHERment Conference is taking place this Saturday September 28th from 8am-2pm at Bowie State University.  This is the first event of this kind at Bowie State and a portion of proceeds from the conference will go to fund Bowie State University’s Department of History and Government to provide more courses aimed specifically at women. The conference will feature keynote speaker Sheila Stewart from Radio One DC. It will also feature a number of panel discussions featuring experts in fields such as career development, personal finance, business development, and health and wellness. There will be a total of four panels and guests will have the chance to ask questions about legacy, career, money, and health, while receiving gender specific advice.  This event will also be a networking opportunity for women from all fields and industries. There is a good chance that some professional relationships could come out of the conference, as will as the chance to make like-minded friends.  Panel discussions on professional growth and development, economic empowerment, leadership and ambition: finding your voice (that sounds really interesting).  Ryntnia Rost, Vice President of Public Affairs for GEICO is on this panel and it looks like it’s going to be interesting.  Panelists for the Leadership and Development panel also include Dawn Culpepper, Program Director of the Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN) and L. Denise Jackson, CEO, LDJ Solutions, LLC.  See the full list of panels and panelists at Eventbrite.  Registration is free and still open.

Girlfriends Gratitude TeaThe Girlfriend’s Gratitude Tea is pleased to present its third event on Sun., Sept. 29, “Creating Positive Images for the Media: A Movement Empowering Black Girls and Women to Build Their Self-Image, Self-Respect & Self-Love”.  The Girlfriend’s Gratitude Tea is a two-fold event sponsored my Mrs. PR Protocol that will to provide a  Tea Talk discussion panel of selected dynamic girlfriends within the media industry who will engage and enlighten on the importance of positive images in the media and how to build self-image, self-respect and self-love. Panel participants will include moderator Micheline Bowman, FOX5, Molette Green, WHUR 96.3 FM, Cheryl Ingraham, PGC Blog and Tracee Wilkins, NBC4 along with Tiffany Gill, Black Girls Unscripted and Dr. Jeri Dyson, resident medical physician for Black Entertainment Television’s BET Rap-It-Up HIV/AIDS Campaign.  In addition, “girlfriends” can spend time together relaxing, reconnecting and showing gratitude to one another.  Girlfriends gathered for the tea will experience and enjoy a tea luncheon catered by professional Chef Steven Wilson, dance to live music from Soulcial Hour Band R&B/Jazz, receive girlfriend’s gifts, support women-owned businesses, champion a new campaign for girls, listen to a spoken-word artist, meet their favorite media personalities (like Chery Ingraham from PGC Blog)  and be pampered with lots of LOVE and give aways!  Now who couldn’t use an evening of THAT?!!  Tickets and vendor tables are still available but I have it from a reliable source that both will be closing soon.  Get your tickets as soon as possible at Eventbrite.  Click HERE.
