Yelp! featured two Prince George’s County restaurants for their Korean food: Da Rae Won (Beltsville) and Myong Dong (Beltsville) I didn’t even know we had Korean restaurants. YES!! Also located in Beltsville, Old Line Fine Wine & Bistro is sponsoring an online craft beer fantasy six pack contest. Laurel is having its 6th Annual Taste of Laurel. I missed the first 5 but I’m here now and I’m into it. Pasta Nostra in Laurel has a deal on Groupon that will have you carb loading.
Da Rae Won (5213 Garrett Ave, Beltsville, MD): Ashley Z is singing the praises of this Korean hideaway. “This place has the best Korean-style jajanmyun in the area… or ever! It’s different from the Chinese version… so don’t be afraid to dump all of the black bean sauce onto your noodles… promise it won’t be too salty.”
Myoung Dong (11114 Baltimore Ave, Beltsville, MD): Rin A knows that everyone, “does kimchi their own way, and everyone has a preference for how they like it to taste.” She likes it with a bit of crunch and a lot of kick. “The cucumber kimchi… such crunch… such subtle flavors!” Their radish kimchi is also on her short list.
We continue on the Beltsville roll with the announcement from Old Line Fine Wine & Bistro located at 11011 Baltimore Avenue, Beltsville, MD off Route 1 and Powder Mill Road is launching a special contest for craft beer and music enthusiasts. Craft beer fans will choose their favorite six beers on Old Line’s Facebook page, and enter them in the fantasy six pack contest using the hashtag #Fantasy6Pack. Entrants will get their friends to “like” their fantasy six pack on Facebook and the fan with the most likes wins a gift card toward purchasing your craft beer sampler, two tickets to the Leftover Salmon show on November 8th at the 9:30 Club and a 2013 Fall Tour poster.
Prince George’s County has a food truck. Simply Delightful Soul Food of Suitland (5685 Suitland Rd, Suitland, MD 20746, (301) 735-7467) is on the road and serving up the masses. I am so excited that he was successful in the licensing process. Simply Delightful Soul Food has been nominated for Steve Harvey’s Neighborhood Award for best soul food restaurant. From the looks of the pics, I need to fast a couple of days and then head down there.
Groupon is featuring a good looking deal for my Italian food lovers. See deal HERE. The 6th Annual Taste of Laurel is Sunday, November 3rd from 1:30-3:30 p.m. If you’re like me, you missed the first 5 so let’s try to get out to this one. This event features the best of local Laurel restaurants, and last year close to 15 restaurants participated in the event. Among the local food providers who have already confirmed for this year are Curry Leaf, Double Dipper, Toucan Taco, Julie’s Funnel Cakes and Fruit Punch, and Copy Cat Cakes.
The Taste of Laurel begins at the Laurel Museum, 817 Main Street starting at 1:30. To gain free entrance, simply bring one canned or dry food donation per family. The donation goes to the Laurel Advocacy and Referral’s (LARS) Food Pantry. For a list of preferred and needed food donations, go to Laurel Advocacy and Referral site’s list HERE. Why is that picture of funnel cake making me salivate? OH FOR THE LOVE OF FRIED CARBS AND SUGAR!!!!
