Murder Arrests Made in the Neighborhood
Two major arrests have been made by the Prince George’s County Police in the deaths of 71-year old Geraldine McIntyre and 18-year-old Marckel Ross.
In the death of Ms. Geraldine McIntyre, the murder suspect is identified as 46-year-old James Alphonso Ward of the 1300 block of Chapel Lane in Capitol Heights. Know what is disturbing about that address? It’s right around the corner from Ms. McIntyre’s residence.
Ms. Geraldine McIntyre was discovered in her residence on February 9, 2013, around 3:00 pm, suffering from multiple stab wounds to her upper body. She was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. The investigation
James A. Ward
revealed that James Alphonso Ward murdered his neighbor, Geraldine McIntyre, then stole a television from her. The motive in the murder was burglary.
Ward is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He
was already in custody on an unrelated breaking and entering charge. He remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested Travon Donnell Bennett for the murder of Marckel Ross in Capitol Heights. The suspect, 20 year-old Travon Donnell Bennett is a resident of 6700 block of Amherst Road in Bryans Road, MD (Accokeek area).
On September 11, 2012, police officers found 18-year-old Ross suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, laying dead in the 6100 block of Old Central Avenue. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Ross was simply on his way to school that morning when he was gunned down in what appears to be a failed robbery attempt.
Travon Donnell Bennett
Investigative developments led detectives to identify Travon Donnell Bennett as a suspect. Bennett is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
